V okviru 307. doktorskega seminarja Grajeno okolje bo imel(-a) Assoc. prof. dr. Spencer Quiel, Lehigh University, Pennsylvania, ZDA predavanje z naslovom:
Performance-Based Structural-Fire Engineering for Highway Bridges
Recent events have highlighted the vulnerability of highway bridges to severe fire. This presentation will explore case studies (including the collapse of the I-95 overpass at Cottman Avenue in Philadelphia in June 2023) and introduce approaches that are available for engineers to evaluate the fire resistance of bridge structures. Existing standards as well as emerging resources will be highlighted.
Prof. Quiel is an associate professor of structural engineering at Lehigh University. His research focuses on the resistance of buildings, bridges, tunnels, and other structures to extreme loads, particularly fire, blast, and progressive collapse. Prof. Quiel is a licensed engineer in two US states (Pennsylvania and Virginia), and he currently serves on the Blast Resistance and Structural Integrity Committee and Fire Committee for the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute. He has been previously awarded AISC’s Milek Fellowship (2016), PCI’s Martin P. Korn Award for Best PCI Journal Paper (2019).. He earned his Ph.D. in structural engineering from Princeton University and B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
Predstavitev bo v ponedeljek, 21. 10. 2024, ob 13.00 v Dvorani (5. nadstropje), ZAG, Dimičeva 12.
Vljudno vabljeni.
